Boulder, Colo. – February 25, 2008 – Optica Technologies today announced that its FICON solutions for IBM mainframe users have completed laboratory tests for interoperability with the Cisco MDS 9500 Series Multilayer Director platform. Optica’s Prizm FICON Converter is the solution that performs native protocol conversion from FICON to ESCON. This allows customers to migrate mainframes to a switched FICON environment using the Cisco MDS storage networking platform, while protecting investments in legacy ESCON storage and peripheral devices.
