OPTICA TECHNOLOGIES JOINS DECRU OPENKEY PROGRAM TO DELIVER INTEGRATED LIFETIME KEY MANAGEMENT FOR OPTICA ECLIPZ ESCON TAPE ENCRYPTOR

December 3, 2007

Integrated Solution Enables NetApp and Optica Customers to Consolidate Key Management

Redwood City, Calif. and Boulder, Colo. – December 3, 2007 - – NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) and Optica Technologies today announced the integration of the Decru® Lifetime Key Managemen™ KM500 appliance with the Optica? Eclipz? encryption appliance. By joining the Decru OpenKey™ program, Optica is working with NetApp to deliver integrated, automated, and secure key management across mainframe and open systems environments.

The integrated solution brings together proven security technologies that will provide customers a unified key management system across mainframe tape encryption and open systems infrastructures. The KM500 appliance enables customers to leverage, simplify, and protect their security investments across heterogeneous enterprise environments, including legacy and new storage systems.

The Decru OpenKey partner program is designed to deliver heterogeneous key management across a broad spectrum of encrypting devices and software, and is a critical enabler for end-to-end security solutions. The OpenKey API architecture follows emerging industry standards such as P1619.3. By collaborating with OpenKey partners on standards definition, NetApp is maximizing architectural robustness and the future value of customer investments.

Optica was the first mainframe solutions company to introduce high-performance hardware-based encryption for thousands of deployed ESCON® tape libraries. Eclipz is the only solution that saves operators from having to make the tough choice between replacing existing tape libraries with the newer FICON tape systems with embedded encryption or, conversely, increasing their investment in host CPU resources to support lower-performing software encryption.

“We are pleased to be a member of the Decru OpenKey program,” said Greg Collins, Optica chairman and CEO. “When our customers address their compliance obligations, they are looking for both open systems- and mainframe-based tape encryption solutions. In addition, it is critical that we can help them with a unified key management framework. NetApp is clearly an industry leader in both enterprise key management and open systems encryption. When you combine that with Eclipz, we have a winning combination.”

“The combination of Optica’s leadership in mainframe security and Decru key management expertise will provide our customers with an enterprise-wide, unified key management system to address new compliance and regulatory requirements,” said Tim Russell, vice president and general manager of the Storage Security business unit at NetApp. “Our customers can have confidence in deploying an end-to-end security solution based on standards and proven technologies that protect their business.”
