OPTICA TECHNOLOGIES INC. ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY FOR THEIR NEW CHANNEL BASED ESCON TAPE ENCRYPTION SOLUTION

Louisville, CO – July 9th, 2007 – Optica Technologies Incorporated has announced strong market response for its generally available Eclipz ESCON Data Encryptor.

As a leading developer of enterprise quality mainframe hardware, Optica Technologies Inc. has answered the call for low-cost data encryption needs for mainframe tape systems. Data theft and loss prevention has become increasingly important in recent years, and privacy regulations such as California’s SB 1386 and PCI Data Security Standard have made tape encryption a mandatory best practice for enterprises of all sizes.

Eclipz offers hardware accelerated encryption that runs natively on the ESCON channel so that enterprises can realize fully transparent data encryption while preserving investment in ESCON tape systems. Eclipz was designed from the outset with the recognition that enterprises require tape encryption solutions that minimize impact on host CPU utilization, and that can transparently add encryption and key management to existing mainframe tape infrastructures. Eclipz combines strong IEEE compliant AES standard encryption with a simple, secure key management methodology that permits data centers and disaster recovery sites to get encryption up and running quickly. Eclipz key management eliminates the need to transform development engineers and storage operators into highly trained security staff.

Optica was fortunate for the opportunity to undertake early interoperability testing with its partner, Innovation Data Processing of Little Falls NJ. Thomas Meehan, Vice President of Advanced Technology for Innovation indicates; “Optica?s Eclipz has successfully passed rigorous interoperability testing with our family of FDR products. With the task of verifying interoperability successfully behind us, it is now our intent to work with Optica on a flexible encryption solution that would incorporate a close integration of our FDRCRYPT software and the Optica Eclipz hardware. Our market commitment is to continue delivering leading business data protection, business continuance and information storage management software solutions that improve our customers? business resiliency. Supporting technology partners such as Optica who deliver the benefits of hardware based tape encryption and key management is just another way we are keeping that commitment.”

Eclipz has been smoothly tested in several partner and customer labs, and claims the highest ROI of the many mainframe tape encryption alternative on the market today. “We have experienced an overwhelmingly positive customer response to Eclipz, said Greg Collins, Chairman and CEO of Optica, The cost of compliance to identity theft regulations is high enough, and customers appreciate that Eclipz delivers excellent performance at the lowest cost.”
